Benefits of Coconut Oil

Someone was asking me how coconut oil benefits the skin, which sent me to do some researching. The first article I found was from the Huffington Post newspaper. I think this paragraph summarizes a main benefit: "Also, many commercial brands of moisturizers contain petroleum-based ingredients that can suffocate the skin. In contrast, coconut oil provides deep and real moisture. It helps strengthen underlying tissues and helps remove excessive dead cell on the skin's surface that makes your skin rough and flaky in texture. It also great for shine and as a natural moisturizer for your hair." Petroleum is bad for your skin and some make up companies use it in their products. But coconut oil goes deep into the skin and helps remove excessive dead cells that are on your skin. If that is the only reason, that is enough for me. You can read the article at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/27/coconut-oil-benefits_n_1625631.html Coconut oil is also a good oil to use in making soap. Too much can be drying on the skin, but if the correct amount is used, the soap will be valuable.

Hot Peppers Are Cool

I love going on Face Book or through my emails and learning about how food can help us be healthy and the benefits of eating certain types of foods. I am learning something new every day. I would like to share some of the things I am learning, so here is one item in a pic. The picture speaks for itself. Plus, I have a hangup with growing peppers even though most of them are treats for my bird, Petra, who is now 25 years old.
Hot peppers are cool. I am trying to grow pepperocini peppers, and purple jalapenos, and so far, I grew one little tiny purple jalapeno and I put it with the meat that I was cooking to make tacos with last week.

I Made Almond Meal

I made almond meal. So, what? Almonds are very expensive, plus you have to practically grind them to death to get them to turn into meal.
Why would anyone even bother? So far, I have managed to almost be sugar free. Now I want to be more gluten-free. This whole process is a very expensive, time-consuming endeavor.
Will I lose weight if I make chocolate chip cookies using almond flour instead of regular flour? Only time will tell. But, if I want to continue on my course in growing my gluten-free, sugar-free food regiment, this is the only alternative I know of, that might actually work. I literally can have my cake and eat it too, if almond flour works well in place of regular flour.
What I would hope would happen in my tiny lifetime, is that, by the end of my life, when I truly am elderly, that 1. I won't be in a nursing home, 2. I will be able to think clearly, 3. I won't die of a horrible disease like cancer  4. I will be able to walk.
Maybe all these little details will help me to have a strong enough immunity to keep my body healthy and strong. I will keep studying and researching for food alternatives. And maybe one day, I just might write a cookbook.

My Cliff Notes on Two Articles on Becoming Gluten Free and Why it is Important

I found two articles today telling the reason why you should not consume wheat products (as well as other grains). I still hold my opinion that this epidemic is due to the fact that our plants have been genetically modified. I find it amazing that people can go to other countries and eat bread and wheat products without any problems, yet, here in America, they cannot eat products made from gluten without getting sick. Plus, the amount of chemicals we use here is devastating. No wonder we are a sick country.
Here is my summary of the first article. This article, written by Mark Hyman, explains the basics of gluten and the affects of it on people today. A study was done by The Journal of the American Medical Association, which gives the risk factors for those who are gluten intolerant. Gluten can be the leading cause of serious health issues for many. Here is an excerpt from the article: "Something you’re eating may be killing you, and you probably don’t even know it! If you eat cheeseburgers or French fries all the time or drink six sodas a day, you likely know you are shortening your life. But eating a nice dark, crunchy slice of whole wheat bread–how could that be bad for you? Well, bread contains gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, spelt, kamut, and oats. It is hidden in pizza, pasta, bread, wraps, rolls, and most processed foods. Clearly, gluten is a staple of the American diet." Here is the url for this article: http://www.undergroundhealth.com/gluten-what-you-dont-know-might-kill-you/
This is just a side note: I seem to see a network of things happening in our country that will lead us to become sick, and when we become sick, we go to the doctor and get medicine. What is the problem with that? It's like a cycle, where the causes work together like a network. I don't want to sound political, and this is just my observation, but in short, it looks like the government supports and funds organizations and corporations that encourage us to eat in an unhealthful way, which causes us to have to go to the doctor, and then get medicine. The AMA and FDA work together with pharmaceutical companies. That's how pharmaceutical companies make lots of money. Nothing is wrong with wanting to make money. But what is wrong is that preventive measures can be taken to help us stay well, yet, those measures are discouraged by the FDA and other governmental supported structures. They work hand in hand with each other to keep the medical economy in business. Then add corporations like Monsanto, which are on top of all the other corporations like pharmaceutical companies as well as garden/farming companies. So, Monsanto produces genetically modified plants under the guise of protecting plants while using 'safe' pesticides on them, and patenting these seeds so no one else can use them. Now we are finding that these plants lack nourishment, and all that was done years ago is now backfiring on us, as well as them. Only they still don't want the public to know what is going on, so they have people defend their cause on television (I heard this with my own ears recently).
Let me tell you about using a 'safe' pesticide on my dog. Years ago, I had a dog who had tons of fleas that I couldn't get rid of. I got some 'Sevin' dust which was supposed to be safe to use on animals. I put some on my dog and thought he was going to die. Never again will I trust any pesticide that is supposed to be safe around animals.
It is hard to fight Monsanto, for they are highly protected by the legal system. And no wonder, Michael Taylor, a lawyer for Monsanto, is also the chief of the FDA (although maybe not any longer). But see how they work together, and how this is causing us to be a sick nation?
I also think about the people who are in jail because they found a cure for cancer and they shared their 'cure' but the legal system found out. Yet, many, many years have gone by and the cancer research organizations have not come up with a cure yet. The only thing they come up with is treatment that may or may not work, or may only delay the cancer from developing. This is how the government works.
I said all this to say, we really can be healthy, but it only comes from learning and practicing preventive measures. In other words, we can prevent ourselves from getting sick in the first place, but you won't hear that from government sponsored organizations! Thank God for the internet, and for those doctors and medical authorities who really do want to help people stay well. So, onto the next article...
The second article I read is written by a doctor named William Davis. Dr. Davis helps people to take measures to reduce their blood sugar level. He has them remove all wheat products, as well as other grains, in order to achieve this goal. After people eliminated all gluten products from their food regiment, they returned to see the doctor and the blood sugar levels were down. Many also lost weight. Some of the other affects were, loss of pain due to arthritis, improvement in asthma, and relief from irritable bowl-syndrome and acid-reflux. This doctor also wrote a book called, Wheat Belly, and if you go to his web site, http://www.wheatbellyblog.com/about-the-author/ you can sign up to receive recipes.
I personally think all of us would be better off if we could get rid of products made with white flour and sugar, but I know that is easier said than done. For example, I was at a restaurant yesterday, and bread is always served. Salad dressings almost always have sugar in them, or they may contain gluten as well. Sauces have sugar in them. Drinks have sugar in them unless you ask for unsweetened or water. I ordered a side dish of onion rings and I didn't get a 'side' dish of onions, I got a platter of them! I have learned to adapt many recipes to make them sugar free or even gluten free, but even with my accomplishments in doing those, Mark Hyman and Dr. Davis would still not approve. Their recommendations would include getting rid of potatoes and tapioca starch as well. No grains of any kind (not even oatmeal) and you should be on the road to recovery. Like I said, easier said than done. But, it is a goal we can work toward, and who knows, maybe those extra pounds will really and truly come off. If nothing else happens, at least we will be a little bit healthier. And we might just live a little longer with a little less pain as well. Not a bad deal, I think.

Make Your Voice Known - Ask Store Clerks The Hard Questions

I have started asking questions of those who work in the stores. I love the meat department especially. The questions I ask the butchers seem to be too hard for them to answer, but it gives them something to think about and take those questions back to their managers if they hear them enough.
I could imagine a business meeting composed of those who work at the store I shop at. It might go like this:
Produce Clerk: Does anyone here know if the corn is.. I think the lady said GMO? Anyone know what GMO stands for?
Produce Clerk 2: Come to think of it, I kind of remember a couple of people asking something about GMOs. I don't know what they are either.
Meat Clerk: GMO is Genetically Modified something. I had a few people asking that about the meat. The main request I keep hearing is for grass-fed beef. What's up with the grass-fed beef? Why is it becoming so popular?
Butcher: I had someone call and ask if there were some kind of growth hormone in the beef? Heck, how do I know what they do with the cattle? What's the deal here? Meat is meat.
Manager: Maybe we need to look into these things. If enough people are talking about them, then we need to be one step ahead and do our homework.

I think our stores, if they are worthy of our shopping efforts, will listen if we speak. Ask if the corn is GMO. Ask if the salmon is farmed or wild. Ask if the beef is grass-fed or has been given growth hormones. Keep asking. Do your own research. Find out why you beef needs to be grass-fed or corn should be non-GMO. There are other issues as well to attend to, but this is a good place to start.

The Little PH Strip of Paper and The Fate It Tells

So, I go to the chiropractor today, and was given a short little test. I was given a tiny strip of paper and told to hold it on my tongue for 3 seconds. I took it off after the 3 seconds was up, and viola, it was matched with a color on the color chart which indicated that my body was more on the acidic side, which is conducive for growing cancer.
Now I thought I was doing pretty good in the way I was taking care of my body. I hardly eat any real sugar, and have cut way back or replaced white flour products with something more natural and gluten free. I also have begun to eat kale because I have so much kale, and I need to get rid of it, so I put some in a smoothie each day. I try to have colorful vegetables, but, now I find out, cancer can still grow in my body! What to do next?
Still working on the organic garden and the hydroponic garden as well. Just hope I don't die before I figure out how to be successful at gardening!
With that in mind, here are some ideas that can help prevent cancer.
I found an article this morning that describes 10 foods that can help prevent cancer. Some of those foods are tomatoes, broccoli, globe artichoke, Brussels sprouts, green tea, blueberries, spinach, bok choy, and red cabbage. http://www.undergroundhealth.com/top-10-foods-for-cancer-prevention/

How Juice Plus+ Is Made

Trying not to risk the accusation of having a Juice Plus+ web site (or blog page), but I would like to share some simple information about Juice Plus. I don't know about you, but I have a lot of questions about why we do what we do, why we believe what we believe in, and why we eat (or don't eat) the things we consume. So, after selling Juice Plus for a couple of years now, I am taking some time out to find out more about this wonderful product.
I have heard excellent reports from people who use Juice Plus+. It really does help to build immunity up to fight colds and sicknesses. It is not a perfect cure-all for everything, but it seems way better than having to take medication all the time.
Here is a fact about Juice Plus, that comes from the Juice Plus web site. If you are ever interested in learning more about this product, go to http://www.ss.juiceplus.com . If you find the tabs that talk about the clinical research being done, you will find tons of research that has already been done and the results are in. One other thing that is exciting about Juice Plus+ is that many doctors recommend this product. Some of them would sell it if they were in a place where they could do that, and others do sell it. Juice Plus seems to have a good recommendation from doctors. Now for the fact:

How is Juice Plus+® made?
FACT:
Juice Plus+ is made from fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables, and is carefully tested to
ensure that no pesticides or other contaminants affect the natural purity of the product. The
fruits and vegetables are juiced, and the juices are then concentrated into powders using a
proprietary drying process that carefully maintains temperatures at levels that preserve as
much of the original nutrient quality as possible.
Also note that Juice Plus+ does not have any sugar added to it!
It comes in chewable or capsule form.

Home Made Peanut Butter

I like to grow my own bird's food for her. Birds like peppers and all kinds of veggies that can be dried. If for no one else, I will grow food for my precious bird. But, I do like some vegetable products and one of them is peanut butter.
Peanut butter that is marketed and sold in the stores has some undesirable ingredients added to it, plus preservatives and other additives possibly. But the real problem with peanuts that are raw, is that they tend to carry aspergillum spores, which are very dangerous, especially for birds. If I weren't so picky about what my bird eats, I probably wouldn't even know what aspergillum is.
When I give her a bowl of food (I call 'manna') I pick out the peanuts that come with the rest of the seeds and pellets and toss them to the squirrels. (Maybe that's why my squirrel population went down!).  But when you make homemade peanut butter, you roast the peanuts first, and that will hopefully kill the bad spores.
I want to grow my own peanuts and make my own peanut butter. I found a web site with some wonderful peanut butter recipes and pretty pictures of the finished products. Take a look at the pics of the peanut butter here and see what you think. http://www.inspiredtaste.net/21318/how-to-make-peanut-butter-three-ways/
Now, to be successful in growing peanuts. I grew them before, but this time I need to grow a lot. I have a Champion juicer which I can use to make the peanut butter with, although the recipe on the web site above uses a food processor to make peanut butter with.
Next step is to plant a granary mill along the river in the back yard. I wish. I saw one last week and wish I had one. But I have an electric one that is an attachment to my Kitchen Aid mixer. If I had enough room, I could grow wheat. Then I could mill the wheat and make bread. Then we would have homemade (homegrown as well) peanut butter sandwiches. I'll grow strawberries and we will have strawberry jam to go in the sandwiches. Maybe one day, all this will come to pass.

Fresh Ground Grain the Old Fashioned Way

Today we visited a little store that carried grains that were ground right in their back yard. The power to operate the mill came from the water flowing from the river. Someday, maybe I can grow my grains and grind them too! It would help if I lived on a river and could use the power of the river to make my grain mill work, like they do at Nora Mill Granary in Helen, Georgia.
Here is the mill at work. A very natural and peacefulway to get your grits and cornmeal. While I was there I picked up some white speckled grits and some yellow cornmeal. Also, there was whole wheat bread flour that I want to try. Then we went to the coffee shop next door where they roast their coffee beans locally. I want to do that too. I want to grow my own grains and coffee. Probably would need to have a really big backyard for all of that. Will experiment with the bags of grains I bought, when I get home!

I Think I Finally Found A Solution To Sleeping With Noise

I have had many, many years of dealing with insomnia, and have probably tried almost every trick in the book to get rid of it. I read through a book called, 'No More Sleepless Nights' and have diagnosed my insomnia to one of the rarer types; primary insomnia. Of course, the only recommendation they give for whatever insomnia you have, is to go to a doctor for help.
I have insomnia for a variety of reasons. Maybe if we tackle them one by one, I can get rid of it, forever! Well, one of the latest experiments is working with sound. Some friends and I were talking about insomnia, and he recommended getting a headset that cancels noise. I went to amazon.com and realized the cheapest one was around $300, but I took it. I got it to work, but I can still hear noise through it. That doesn't mean that it doesn't work though. The way the noise cancellation works is by providing something called, 'White Noise'. When you are awake during the day, you respond to noise in a certain way. Your body knows how to respond to the sounds that you pick up. But when you are sleeping (or in my case, trying to sleep) your ears are tuned a different way. The noise that doesn't bother you during the day, becomes magnified and it makes it harder to sleep with certain sounds. White noise helps you to receive the noise, just as if you were awake, but without keeping you awake.
I decided to put on some 'white noise' I downloaded on my I-Pad a couple of months back. I noticed it at first, although the noise really didn't bother me. I fell asleep easily, and the times I did wake up during the night, I didn't even notice the noise being there.
We might be onto something here. This could be the ultimate cure for my insomnia! Once I conquer the Restless legs syndrome, and the sleep apnea problems, I might be able to get a full, good night's sleep once again.
  Now, onto doing more research....

Wheat-Grass Full of Valuable Nutrients

Ever since I have heard of the value of wheat-grass, I have wanted to grow my own. If you go to a typical smoothie store, you can have a shot of the juice from wheat-grass at an additional cost. After all these years, I finally gave it a stab.
I took a used ice-cream container, and put holes in the bottom. Then I put garden soil (organic) in the container and added the wheat berries that I picked up at a health food store. Sadly, the wheat berries stayed in the bag for many months before they were used.
I watered my new little indoor garden and viola, I had authentic wheat-grass growing in my garden. It sprang up quickly and now I guess it is ready to use. I will cut some tomorrow and put it in my smoothie for breakfast.
Wheat-grass growing in plastic container indoors

I was looking at a web site on wheat-grass and it's nutritional value. According to Dr. Oz,  it is a catalyst for making red blood cells. Wheatgrass also contains the minerals you need to have, especially iron. Iron is important because it helps to prevent anemia. Wheat-grass is also vitamin rich. Here is the url containing information on the health benefits of wheat-grass: http://www.livestrong.com/article/318965-the-advantages-of-using-wheat-grass/

Mangosteen, Soursop, and Graviola

Another Helpful Ingredient in Fighting Cancer

I was aware of the properties of soursop in fighting cancer, and that is the topic for tonight. Soursop is also known as mangosteen or graviola, depending on which country you live in. Graviola is a product that comes from the rain forests. It is packaged up and sold on amazon.com if you are interested in ordering some. Here is a review on a mangosteen juice product sold on amazon.com:
"Mangosteen Contains powerful phytonutrients has the highest oxygen radical absorbance capacity, supports visual aid and cardiovascular function, excellent source of potasium, support microbiological balance, maintains immunce system, promotes joint flexibility. Guyabano Natural Cancer Cell Killer The Guyabano is the fruit from the Graviola tree that is miraculous cell killer. It is 10,000 times stronger than CHEMO. Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be possible to attack cancer safely and effectively with all-natural therapy that does not cause extreme nausea, weight loss and hair loss. Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections. Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment. Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life. Extracts from the tree were shown to effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer. The tree compounds to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug. The leaves are regarded as a remedy for gall bladder trouble as well as Coughs, Cataracts, Diarrhea, Dysentery, Fever, and Indigestion."
Maybe we should try to grow a mangosteen plant in our back yards!

Alkaline Water and Stopping Cancer

I have been hearing recently how alkaline water is good in stopping cancer from growing. Could we be onto a cure for cancer finally? I don't know for sure, but this looks hopeful. But like anything that is promising, there will always be an opposing side to it, whether it be a health issue, spiritual issues or some other issue that presses deep into our hearts (and our pocketbooks).
I have learned that cancer cannot grow in an alkaline environment. If that is true, then how can we create an alkaline environment for us to enjoy? There is one thing we can do, for sure. We can drink alkaline water. You can have a filter installed under your sink or faucet that can turn your water alkaline. I have a friend who uses the leftover water on her gardens, and her yard is beautiful. You can also buy this bottled water at various places. They may sell it at some health food stores. Call the store first and see if they carry it. If enough people request something, they may look into ordering some if they don't carry it already.
The article on this particular web site explains how alkaline water helps stop cancer from growing. I have also heard that eating greens like spinach and kale can help make your system alkaline. You can put green items such as spinach, kale, and other green vegetables in your smoothies.
   http://www.cancertutor.com/Cancer/IonizedWater.html
One other thing that is recommended on this web site it to get off sugar. Sugar actually feeds cancer cells and doing away with sugar can help you to become healthy. But be careful about sugar substitutes. Artificial sweeteners are just as bad for you as sugar is, so avoid them. Acceptable sugar replacements are xylitol and Stevia. Make sure that other ingredients aren't added to these products. Honey, maple syrup, and rapadura are ok in moderation, but a good word of advice is to get off soda pop, whether it is sugar free or not. Soda has a lot of calories anyway, plus a list of other undesirable ingredients that aren't helpful to our health.
One other thing I have heard, but don't have enough information yet, is that fresh orange juice actually becomes alkaline when we drink it. This might be something good to research.

The Amazing Feat Of Making Cheddar Cheese

As I look through my cookbooks on making cheese, I learned to accept the fact that making hard cheese, like cheddar, is not something I can do in 10 minutes. But I got brave and collected all the ingredients and necessary utensils, and got busy last week. It can also be expensive to make cheese, so I broke the rules and cut the recipe in thirds. That way, I won't have wasted so much money if it doesn't turn out.

Ingredients That Can Be Helpful and Healthful

I have been thinking about writing a blog about the ingredients that people can take to help them to be well physically. I'll write a few things here as they come to mind. Feel free to send in comments on ideas that you have on ingredients people can take in order to gain health.

1. Natural antibiotics - garlic, oil of oregano, colloidal silver
2. Beneficial oils - Olive oil, coconut oil
3. Probiotics - Fermented food, yogurt, kefir, kombucha,
4. Superfoods - walnuts, blueberries
5. Supplements - fish oil, vitamin D3, COQ10,
6. Other ingredients - glutathione, CLA, apricot kernels
7. Meats/Fish - Grass fed beef, Red salmon

There are quite a few more things and as I remember them, I will write them in. I will also expound on them at a later date.
One other thing that is not really something to be listed, as much as something to be noted; Food in America has undergone genetic modification (GMO) and as a result, much of the food produced in this country has little nutritional value left in it. Engineers develop seeds using genetic modification in order to make food look or taste a certain way. It also enables more food to be grown. Basically, it makes a way for the food industry to provide food for all the companies that are under them. It fails to take into consideration, the fact that there are certain things that are necessary for the result of food to be nourishing and beneficial to the consumer. It benefits the companies that utilize the industrialization of food, but not the people who are eating it.
Here is an interesting fact; I have heard this a couple of times recently; people who have an intolerance to gluten, can eat bread while in another country. One person explained that she could eat bread while she was in Italy, but not here in America. The same is true for a person who visited Brazil. Do you know why this is? I don't have any test results from this, but I can only imagine that people can eat bread from other countries, because the wheat grown in other countries is not genetically modified. That is the possible reason people in America suffer from leaky gut syndrome as well. This is just my opinion based on what I have recently heard and learned about.

Why Is Paying Attention To Our Health So Important?

You might wonder why people put such a high price tag on their health. Honestly, there could be a lot of reasons why they do this. It could be that their health is always on their mind. It might be that they are afraid of dying or having a terrible, painful disease.
Just how much of a priority should taking care of our bodies have? Here is the way I look at it; We live in America in the 21st Century, and things are very different than they were in the past. Our society wants everything in a hurry. The things that appeal to us and to our senses are the things we going after. For example, if you are in a grocery store, and you are going to buy some apples to make a pie with, and you look at the apples, which ones would you pick? Would you pick the dull green ones, or would you prefer the shiny, bright red ones? How about carrots? There are some nice, dull looking ones with an organic label on them, or there are cut up carrots, that look like they have just come out of the dishwasher. What we don't realize is that the shiny red apple is that way because of some additives to the soil when the tree was bearing fruit and they were waxed to make them look shiny, and that the carrots were cut up and put into bleach water to make them look bright and clean (and appealing). The point is, we go after what appeals to our eyes and senses.
We are a sick people though. We are spiritually unhealthy as well as physically ill. When I was a child, occasionally a person had cancer. Cancer meant death was sure. When my dad had cancer, statistically speaking, one in four people would get cancer. Today, about half the people will have cancer sometime during their lifetimes.
Not only is cancer a problem, but now we are afraid of getting the flu. There is a flu bug going around and its a nasty one. I see people running to their pharmacies to get their flu shots.
So do we run around like a chicken whose head was just chopped off? Why do we want to avoid all these sicknesses and is there a way to do it?
Not only do we succumb to cancer and the flu, but there are a myriad of other diseases today that we are prone to get. Alzheimer's, Dementia, MS, Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, Headaches, Viruses, Heart Attack, Stroke, Allergies, Emphysema, and many, many more.
If we don't have a way to prevent these sicknesses, they will invade our lives. Not only will we be sick, but we won't have the energy or strength to do what God has called us to. We won't be able to live out the abundant life God has given us.
We are physically sick, because we live in a toxic world. We have compromised immunity systems. Our immunities are not strong enough to fight the sicknesses that come our way. The devil holds out to us the temptation to have an easy, happy life by selfishly indulging in convenience and appearance. Instead of taking the time to prepare a nourishing meal for our families, we pick something up at the grocery store or open a box or can and put the contents in the microwave, and we think we are serving our families well! I'll be the first to admit, this is much of how I did things for most of my married life. I know how easy it is to do this! But is it really serving our families if we continue to do this, day in and day out?
What do you want to be in your old age? Do you want to follow God's call on your life and serve Him when you are old? Or do you want to be in a nursing home, not remembering who your children are?
It is true that we can make this subject of health into an idol. That is not a good thing to do. But to become informed on how we can best take care of our bodies and take preventive measures from developing sicknesses will serve us all the days of our lives on earth. Then we can concentrate on what God wants us to do and how we can serve Him and others more effectively.
There are basically 5 things to look into when we want to learn how to improve our health. They are called, 'The Five Essentials' of Maximized Living.
1. Maximized Mind
2. Maximized Nerve Supply
3. Maximized Quality Nutrition
4. Maximized Oxygen and Lean Muscle
5. Minimized Toxins
This page with explain each one in more detail: Maximized Living

We want to get rid of as much of the toxins as we can, plus some exercise and proper nutrition are necessary too. The goal is to get rid of toxins that produce inflammation, which compromises our immunity systems and makes it easy for us to get sick and stay sick. We want to get well so we can think clearly in our old age and be as mobile and independent as possible.
In closing, I think about how my great grandmother died. She was 95 and lived on her own, but in a community where there were other people around to check on each other. She was fine on New Years Eve in 1985. Her friend checked on her the next day, and found her dead in a chair. Her body just expired! She had lived a life without much sickness, and lived until the last day of her life on earth without suffering or having the difficulties of aging, as people have today. That is the ideal way to go!
But my dad died a year before that, and he succumbed to cancer. Having cancer is terrible. It is a dreadful disease. My dad was very young when he died. He lived for two months after the cancer was found, but it was a horrible experience to watch. That is what we want to prevent from happening, as much as we have the power to do so. That is why I am writing this blog!
All of us will die one day. We will be in eternity. Our lives will be like a drop in a bucket. The Bible describes our lives as a vapor. When you lived a full life, you realize just how true that statement is. Our lives are only a few days compared to eternity. We are born. We do our own thing. And suddenly, we aren't here anymore! But what do you think happens after we die? I have a couple of pages that talk about this subject if you are interested in finding out answers to questions like this. Colloidal Silver - Very Beneficial

I have recently seen some articles on the benefits of Colloidal Silver, but have always been hesitant to start using it (who wants to put silver into their body? Sounds dangerous to me.) Well, I have seen pictures of Silver generators you can order from amazon.com , along with the raving reviews. As I was reading through my email today, I came across another article someone wrote on how to use colloidal silver as a vegetable wash. Here is the recipe for it (Credit goes to Jim Kennard):

RECIPE:
Use a colloidal silver solution of between 5 to 10 ppm (parts par million).
(The colloidal silver machine listed above will do a great job of making that
for you.)

 Mix together:
 - 1 cup water
 - 1/2 cup vinegar
 - 1/2 cup colloidal silver

Soak produce for 5 minutes, rinse and use as normal.

Kombucha is Ready

Here is a picture of my Kombucha. Kombucha is a fermented drink that is full of probiotics. It is very healthful, especially for the digestive system. If it is fermented properly, it tastes similar to apple cider. Sometimes, the taste is very sour though and is hard to drink. I'm going to test mine out in a little while and get ready for the next batch. The base of the drink is English Breakfast Tea, although you could use other teas as well. But Kombucha doesn't work with herbal teas, only black or green teas without additives. I even have directions for using Kombucha with coffee!
