Cooking properly is not as simple as opening a couple of boxes of prepared food and throwing something into the microwave! But in the olden days, people knew how to cook right. There were no other options, because grocery stores had not come on the scene until 1946.
There are a lot of footnotes in this book, as well as recipes. The recipes though, aren't your typical recipe. Some of them have a little work involved.
There are recipes to make cheese as well as fermented drinks. I especially like the recipe for 'Crispy Nuts' as following the recipes will help prevent digestive problems. Since I use nuts a lot, I make a batch up occasionally and will store the nuts in a container and use them as needed.
