Kombucha is Ready

Here is a picture of my Kombucha. Kombucha is a fermented drink that is full of probiotics. It is very healthful, especially for the digestive system. If it is fermented properly, it tastes similar to apple cider. Sometimes, the taste is very sour though and is hard to drink. I'm going to test mine out in a little while and get ready for the next batch. The base of the drink is English Breakfast Tea, although you could use other teas as well. But Kombucha doesn't work with herbal teas, only black or green teas without additives. I even have directions for using Kombucha with coffee! You can find information about culturing Kombucha at www.culturesforhealth.com.

Can Raw Milk Cure Lyme's Disease?

I have read about how drinking raw milk can help cure Lyme's disease. Here is the story of one lady who was helped by drinking raw milk. There is so much nourishment in raw milk that it will even help you if you don't have Lyme's disease.

Of course, that brings up the question, where can I get raw milk from? If you live near a farm, you are fortunate. Many cities have co-ops that deal with organic foods, including meat and raw milk. You can ask around or do an internet search.
If you want to find out more about the benefits of raw milk, do a search for Weston-price and you should find information on research done on this subject.

Cell Regeneration and Juice Plus+

Every once in a while I get into this mood to study the effects of Juice Plus+ on the body. I was doing a little research on the Internet and came across a site written by Joyce Handler, Psy.D, QNMD, and I will post it here. I was looking specifically for information on how our cells replenish themselves every 90 days. Juice Plus+ has a wonderful effect on our cells and I want to post something here on it. If you are interest in ordering Juice Plus, or learning more about it, please go to my web page at: http://www.sseifertjuiceplus.com . I would encourage you to look at the clinical research that has been done on Juice Plus. It is amazing how getting the proper nutrition really does affect our health. We don't  realize how important it is for us to get the proper nutrients into our bodies, and yet we see people that get very sick, almost every day and we never make the connection. It's time we start reversing the bad effects of our bad eating habits and get back to taking responsibility for our health. It's not too late, and Juice Plus can help. Here is an excerpt from the article written by Joyce Handler:

"I have some great news for you! Since you're now going into your 3rd month on Juice Plus, your blood supply is starting to turn over, which means that the Juice Plus+ is going to be working with your new blood cells to make them cleaner and healthier. And this is just the beginning of the cellular regeneration process with Juice Plus+, because every 3-4 months, you will be going through yet another cycle of new blood cells, and each time the Juice Plus+ works with the new cells, they will become even cleaner and healthier than they were the last time. The same will be occurring as each cell of your body is being replaced. That's why people keep reporting improvements on Juice Plus+, anywhere from 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, 2 years, and beyond!"
So there you have it! Just what I was trying to explain, but done by someone more knowledgable than I.

Cheese Making and Other Cultural Foods

I have successfully made cream cheese a couple of times. Homemade cream cheese doesn't last as long as store bought cream cheese, but it tastes just as good. I used to make yogurt using the culture from a store brand plain yogurt container, but the culture seemed to make yogurt that was slimy, so I got rid of it. Now I made Greek Yogurt and can't wait to try it out! I have made ricotta cheese and liked the way it turned out (I can't seem to find the recipe I used though : (   ). Last night, I made sour cream. Maybe I should invest in a cow!

My next endeavor is to make cheddar cheese. Cheddar cheese originally was made in a town in England called 'Somerset' in the village of Cheddar. The cheese developed in caves. The process is known today as 'cheddaring'. When I think of the word 'cheddar', I always think of the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese product, with the powdered orangy cheese that tasted so good.

Here is a legend on how we got cheddar cheese:
Legend has it that the discovery of Cheddar cheese was accidental. A dairy girl decided to keep a bucket of milk in the caves but did not collect it immediately. By the time she had remembered that it was there and had returned to pick it up the natural bacteria had turned the milk into something new and delicious. Whatever the origin, it is known that King Henry II purchased 10,000 pounds of the cheese.
Got Cheese Net-Origin of Cheddar Cheese

Whatever really happened or however we got cheddar cheese, it has lasted through the years. And it is very versatile as well. You can use it in sandwiches, soups, casseroles, pies, and you can eat it right out of the wrapper. I am going to try to make this one day soon, hopefully. I have the cheese press molds but I don't have the weights to put on top yet. Will look for those, possibly today.

Banana Flavored "Junket" Pudding

This is real similar to the Junket pudding I used to have as a kid, but the real Junket doesn't come in banana flavor. The banana extract was Watkins brand, but it was imitation. I didn't realize that until after I brought it home and opened it up. I will make good use of it, but will not buy it again because it is not pure. If you can find pure banana extract, definitely use that instead!

Banana Flavored 'Junket' Custard Pudding (Copy Cat Recipe Type)

2 cups whole milk
1 1/2 Tbs. fructose ( I used Stevia)
1 tsp. vanilla ( I used banana extract)
5 drops liquid rennet ( you can get Rennet at a health food store)
1 Tbs. cold water

Set out 4 or 5 dessert dishes. Combine milk, fructose, and vanilla. Heat to lukewarm ( about 115•F). Dilute 5 drops of Rennet in 1 Tbs. of cold water, add to warm and stir for a few seconds only. Pour at once while still liquid, into individual dessert dishes. Let stand undisturbed 15 minutes. Place in refrigerator to chill. Source: Malaka Brand liquid Rennet.

Great Product For the Circulatory System

Here is a page that gives the results of research that was done using Juice Plus Vineyard. The results were amazing after the subjects had a high-fat meal. The results of the placebo group were about the same as the beginning of the research study. The group that used the basic Juice Plus capsules had better results, but the group that used the basic Juice Plus, and the Juice Plus Vineyard had the greatest change. Here is an excerpt from the article:

Four weeks of the JP-V combination blunted the detrimental effect of the high-fat meal (􏰁47.5 􏰀 23.4% at baseline vs. 􏰁1.7 􏰀 9.7% at four weeks [p 􏰂 0.05]). Four weeks of JP alone had a similar beneficial effect (􏰁45.1 􏰀 19.7% at baseline vs. 􏰁16.6 􏰀 10.3% at four weeks [p 􏰂 0.05]), whereas there was no substantial effect of the placebo. In the subjects treated with supplements, concentrations of serum nitrate/nitrite increased from 78 􏰀 39 to 114 􏰀 62 􏰄m/l (p 􏰂 0.02).

I have two doctors of mine who speak highly of Juice Plus. I also have personally heard from several people who are taking Juice Plus and are happy with it as it helps keep the person healthy and they do not experience getting sick in the same way that they used to. Pictured below is the Vineyard, which was the one used in the test to determine its effect on the heart and circulatory system. In order for a person to be in good health, the blood vessels and arteries must have 'elasticity'. This helps protect the blood vessels from having cholesterol build up, thus helping the blood to flow more easily. This is exactly what Juice Plus vineyard is good at! It is good for the circulatory system of your body.
If you go to my Juice Plus page, you can find information on the clinical research being done and results of the effects of taking Juice Plus. Juice Plus Info

Beautiful Breakfast

I am not a breakfast eater, but when I saw a pudding on the internet that was supposed to be for breakfast, I decided to get my pudding spoon out and make some tapioca pudding for breakfast. I am taking the recipe on the side of the box from Kraft 'Minute Tapioca'. There is a recipe also on the box for tapioca cream, which I think is similar. I cut the recipe in half because I am not going to eat that much pudding by myself in a short period of time. I can always make more if I want some.

Tapioca Pudding

1/6 cup sugar ( I used 3 Tablespoons Stevia)
1 1/2 TBSP Minute Tapioca (you can use any brand, as long as it is 'minute' tapioca
1 3/8 cups milk
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla (I also used a little Grand Marnier)

Mix sugar (stevia), tapioca, milk and egg in medium saucepan; let stand 5 minutes.
Cook on medium heat stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full boil.
Remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla or flavoring.
Pudding thickens as it cools.
Cool 20 minutes; stir. Serve warm or chilled. store leftover pudding in refrigerator. Makes about 3 (1/2 cup servings).
But here is what I did a little differently. I took some fruit like kiwi and strawberry and cut them up and layered them with the pudding in a stemmed glass. Serve with whipped cream if you wish.
