Gluten-Free Oven-Fried Chicken Recipe

Here is a pic of what I made tonight for dinner. I want something different to coat my chicken with when I bake it. So tonight, I took about 1/2-1 cup of brown rice cereal, some Parmesan cheese (probably about 1/3 cup) some herbs and seasoned salt and put them in the food processor and finely ground the mixture. Then I coated the washed, air dried organic chicken thighs that were thawed out and coated the chicken with the mixture. I put it in the oven at 350 degrees F for about 45 minutes (my little upper oven cooks fast!). It was great! Usually I cook the meat too long and it is tough. Tonight is was just right!

Cultures are Good For You

I found a web site that specialized in cultures for making yogurt, sourdough, buttermilk, and a host of other things. Not only do they carry and sell the culture starters, but there are some videos and recipes as well. www.culturesforhealth.com
   If you want to really make it easy on yourself in making some basic yogurt, get some plain (no flavor) yogurt from the store. Heat some milk (I used 4 cups) on the stove until there are bubbles forming around the edges. Let the milk cool to lukewarm (no more than 110 degrees F.) When it is cooled enough, add a couple of tablespoons yogurt to the milk and stir. If you have a yogurt maker, place the milk mixture into the container (s) and plug in. There is a way to make yogurt without a yogurt maker, but I have not done this yet, so I will not comment on it. Although I have made Piima yogurt (a culture from cows in Europe who feed on the Butterwort plant). That yogurt turns out like a drinkable texture. It has to be replenished every week, and it does not have to be made in a yogurt maker. It can sit on your counter for about 18 hours and finish.
  Yogurt is a cultured food and is excellent for digestion. You can add fruit and flavorings after the yogurt is done, but save some of it to make the next batch of yogurt with.
   Buttermilk is really cool to make. I almost couldn't justify ordering the culture because I don't have many uses for buttermilk. However, I have recently found a couple of recipes that use buttermilk, so I have been making it ever since. I do freeze some of it and defrost it as I need it, then always replenish it by making another batch.

Teeth and How To Care For Them

   i have been intrigued lately since I read an article explaining how root canals can harbor deadly bacteria that grows in an anaerobic environment. I personally have at least 8 root canals, so I am living at a dangerous level according to this article written by Dr. Joseph Mercola. Anyway, I continued to read about an experiment done by Dr. Weston Price (do a search for raw milk articles) and he was a dentist who did an experiment by pulling out the tooth of a woman who had arthritis, implanted the infected tooth into a rabbit, watched the rabbit develop arthritis and die, and observed the former arthritic woman become free of arthritis.
   It reminds me of something I heard a couple of years ago. My husband read a book given to him by a health authority, and the book studied different cultures of people who had long life spans. It made observations of possible reasons that these people lived a long life. One of the reasons had to do with the way they took care of their teeth. Our teeth can make us deathly sick if we let them go.
  For the past year, I have done a little research on this, and found that fluoride, which the authorities seem to taut as a great preventive for cavities, is actually a deadly poison and can cause cancer. So, I am looking for a way to brush my teeth without fluoride now. That led me to find a recipe to make my own toothpaste, which can also be fluoride free.
   Here is what I found; a web site that gives directions on how to make toothpaste out of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. By the way, I have also heard that baking soda is a good thing to use to treat cancer. Supposedly, it helps reduce it or eliminate it altogther. 1/2 cup baking soda
1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide (3%)
3 tsps. glycerin for every 1/4 cup dry ingredients (optional)
drop of peppermint oil

Mix together to form a paste. Do not eat the toothpaste though. Small amounts probably won't hurt, but it is not a good thing to eat toothpaste of any kind! Take good care of your teeth. You only get two sets!

Recipe- Green Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie

Green Mint Chocolate Chip Complete Smoothie 
1-2 cups Almond milk
1 handful of raw baby spinach leaves (2 cups?)
2 frozen bananas
3 drops essential oil of peppermint*
1 scoop JP Vanilla Complete
Extra ice cubes if you want it thicker
I also added 1 Tbsp Raw organic cacao nibs (raw unsweetened chocolate)

This smoothie turns bright green, and with Chocolate nibs, it tastes just 
like “mint chocolate chip ice cream”. Well, almost!

Peppermint Patty Chocolate Complete Smoothie   

             1 - 2 cups Almond Milk (Vanilla Almond Breeze – at Kroger or Walmart)
             2 Bananas (frozen)  or 1 cup frozen blueberries 
             1-2 Tbsp. ground flax seed (optional.)
            *3 drops Peppermint oil – you can get it at a health food store or Whole  
              Foods,or, 1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
             1 scoop chocolate JP Complete powder
             (extra ice cubes if you like it thicker, or more frozen fruit makes it thicker too)

Home Made Root Beer

Here is a simple recipe for home made root beer.

1 cup sparkling mineral water
1 tsp. root beer extract
1 TBS. xylitol or sweetener to taste
2-3 filtered water ice cubes

Fill a glass with the water. Add the root beer extract and sweetener. Stir and add ice cubes. Let sit for a minute or two to cool.

Recipe - Orange Dreamsickle Smoothie

Orange-Dreamsicle smoothie 
1 orange, (peeled and seeded)
1-2 cups ice cubes
1-2 cups organic soymilk/ or ½ cup Orange juice + ½ cup soymilk, or Vanilla Almond milk
1/2 tsp vanilla (opt)
1 scoop vanilla JP Complete powder
Blend til smooth. Your own healthy version of an Orange-Julius!
Personal note; I don't have any problems with using raw cow, sheep, or goats milk in this recipe. I am not fond of soymilk, but if you are used to using it, go ahead. I have also heard of rice milk. I do remember having Orange Julius when I was in dental assisting school. I would have one for lunch along with a hot dog with sauerkraut! The modern recipes I have found call for using a raw egg. Since there is a lot of skepticism about the use of raw eggs today, I would opt for a recipe that doesn't use raw eggs. I haven't made this particular recipe, but it looks like a good alternative to the other recipes that use raw eggs.

Romantic Smoothie Recipe

Here is something I came up with on my own. I didn't get to use the sheeps' milk because it was still frozen, but I used raw cow's milk.

Romantic Smoothie

1 cup milk
1 TBS. malted milk powder
1 scoop Complete protein powder (chocolate flavor)
2 TBS. yogurt
small handful of frozen raspberries

   Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. I also added a couple of ice cubes. Enjoy.
